Brief History of the Argentine Arthroscopy Association |

On October 21, 1987 a prestigious group of specialists decided to join and create the Argentine Arthroscopy Association.
The first president was Dr. Domingo Luis Muscolo and after him the Association was presided by Drs. Mario Berenstein, Alejandro Ranalletta, Pablo Kobrisnky, José Luis Aparicio, Rodolfo Carpignano, Alberto Pienovi, Guillermo Arce, Ariel Barrera Oro, Mario Larrain and the current president Miguel A. Ayerza.
The AAA, Host Association of the Argentine Association of Orthopedics and Traumatology, is a national non-profit scientific entity which main office is located in the Federal Capital City.
The AAA has 804 active members: 85 Regular Members, 690 Adherent Members, 10 Foreign Members and 19 Honorary Foreign Members listed below:

In order to contribute to the development of the Specialty throughout the country, the AAA develops the following scientific activities:

• National Meetings
• International Meetings
• Argentine Arthroscopy Journal
The Argentine Arthroscopy Journal, national communication means, was created in 1994 in order to publish high level scientific material and deliver it to all the artrhoscopic surgeons in the country.
On December 6, 2006 a Memorandum of Understanding was entered into between the Argentine Arthroscopy Association (AAA) and the American Association of Arthroscopy, Knee and Sports (SLARD) in order to carry out a joint scientific publishing project representing both Entities based on the already existing AAA Journal platform called ARTROSCOPIA.
• From 1994 to 2006: 23 journals were published by the AAA
• From 2006 to the date hereof 4 journals were jointly published with the SLARD
